Coming up next week: October 25-29

Hot Lunch is Back! Last week, notices on how to sign up for hot lunch were sent by email to all families (check your junk mailbox if you did not receive yours). All orders will be done online through the PAC Hot Lunch site, so sign your family up soon. Dates for hot lunch have not yet been set as the PAC is working to determine restaurant vendors who can provide us pre-packaged individual meals but they are coming soon. For directions on signing up your family for hot lunch, please see below.

Volleyball Season is here! Our girl’s and boy’s games start this week. While we are so fortunate to have our kids be able to compete against other schools, it is important to note that we are not allowed to have spectators. The only people allowed into the gym are the players, coaches and parent driver (one driver per car and no siblings). Thank you for helping to keep all our students safe and healthy. We will do our best to take photos to share with you and keep you up to date on the progress of our teams.

Parent-Teacher Meetings are this Tuesday. Please connect directly with your child’s teacher for an appointment.

Birthdays at School: Just a gentle reminder that we cannot accept any food at school for students to celebrate their birthday. Birthdays are most certainly a special day for your child but we encourage them to be celebrated at home as our time at school is needed for student learning.

Book Fair Volunteers Needed: Ms.Farstad is in need of some parent volunteers for our upcoming book fair. The dates are Nov.29-Dec.3 during school hours. If you are able to help out for a few hours, please contact Ms. Farstad directly at Volunteers will need to review and follow all health and safety protocols that will be shared with them prior to their visit.

The Great Coyote Creek Car Challenge: Races continue this week and we will be determining Primary and Intermediate Champions. On Thursday, the two winners race against each other in a series of three races to determine the Coyote Creek Elementary Grand Champion!

Students have worked hard on these ADST (Applied Design, Skills and Technology) projects. The process of coming up with a design, building the car, trial runs and redesign are not without challenges. Students at times experience frustration and have to work through many problem solving scenarios as they troubleshoot and redesign their cars with the support of their teachers. This is all an important part of the process. It is an exciting time when we reach race day and all their hard work pays off with a successful run down the track!

On Friday, Oct.29th students are welcome to wear costumes but students are reminded not to touch each other’s costumes – no matter how amazing they are – and to not bring accessories to school that can be passed around. Students must continue wearing non-medical face masks as required, and to ensure breathability, no costume masks are allowed. Please also check with your child’s teacher if students are to wear or bring their costumes to school.

Some teachers may allow a sealed, pre-packaged goodies (no homemade treats, even if individually sealed) to be shared with students. Please connect with your child’s teacher before sending any treats.

Students will have an opportunity to dance in the gym with their buddy class to some fun Halloween dance videos. Happy Halloween everyone!
