Coming up next week: April 26-30

STEM challenge: Students in Div. 3 designed and created homes, using only toothpicks and clay. The challenge took place over a week, and on the last day they were allowed to attach decorations and reinforce their projects with hot glue and any decorations they collected over the week. We set up a contest for tallest, widest, strongest, most decorative, and detailed. We added some challenges as the students worked, to include class favourite, most colourful, most realistic, least and most toothpicks, and smallest! They used art and design elements and structural engineering to work toward their challenges.

Early Dismissal this Friday, April 30th:

National Public Engagement for the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences’ Assessment on Autism:

The Canadian Academy of Health Sciences is seeking input from Autistic people, families and other supporters including service providers, educators and others. This input is being gathered as part of an assessment on autism that is considering scientific information and also informed by a public engagement process.  The assessment will help inform policy makers as they consider the development of a National Autism Strategy.

Public engagement is taking place in April and May.  To learn more about how to get involved, please visit the CAHS website.

Here is some additional information about the two main ways to participate:

1.         Visit the Engagement Hub

This website is for Autistic people, family members, and others who support them including service providers, educators and volunteers. People can share their views by taking a survey or participating in discussion forums.  The engagement hub is open from April 7 to May 31, 2021.  Visit the engagement hub here

2.         Participate in a Community Conversation

Join others in a live (Zoom) conversation about autism.  Each conversation is designed to meet the needs of different people and organizations, based on their identity or location.  These community conversations are taking place in April and May.  Learn more and sign up for the conversation you’re interested in by visiting the CAHS website
