Our Remembrance Day assembly is our most important assembly of the year where we honour all those who helped establish the freedoms we enjoy in Canada. We enjoyed presentations from some of our classes and all students helped to cover our walls in Remembrance Day art.
Seeing double? Maybe even triple? Students had a great deal of fun on twin day dressing up the same as their friends.
Students in grade 3/4 participated in Caine’s Arcade cardboard challenge. Caine’s Arcade is a short film about a 9 year old boy’s cardboard arcade, and his dream of having customers. The 11 minute short film became a global phenomenon in 2012, with over 10 million views online and launched a global cardboard challenge for students. Both our boy’s and girl’s volleyball teams came home from their play days with blue ribbons. Congratulations to all!
Our very first multicultural week was an opportunity for all students to share and celebrate their cultural backgrounds. Students researched their families, created family shields and flags and celebrated by sharing foods from around the world with one another.
Our multicultural week concluded with students performing dances and making presentations. It was wonderful to see so many of our students share their cultural heritage.
Each year, the choir and dance crew from Fleetwood Secondary performs for us. Our students enjoy the opportunity to see some of the things they can be a part of once they move up to high school.
At the beginning of December. we “Deck the Halls,” with all students decorating the halls and their classrooms for the Christmas season.
Some of our Kindergarten and Grade One students had a great mystery on their hands. The gingerbread people cookies they made, escaped from the oven and were at large throughout the school. Luckily, all were eventually found!
Students in grade 7 held a gallery walk with wine (sparkling apple juice) and cheese to celebrate the opening of their art gallery.
After 6 years of fundraising, we had the opportunity on a bright and sunny December day, to open our new playground. An enormous thank-you to our P.A.C. and all our families who donated over the years to make this happen!
Students in grade 6 worked on their first A.D.S.T. project of the year. In order to create their string art masterpiece, students had to create a design, transfer it to wood, sand and stain their base and then create the art itself. The results were beautiful!
Our grade 7 students participate in Entrepreneur Fair each year. Students have to develop a product, market it, and sell their product at our fair. A portion of their profits goes to charity. The picture above of my own personal purchases, demonstrates not only our student talents, but also their great marketing abilities!
A special treat for staff in December. We were treated by the P.A.C. to a pancake brunch! Thank you!
Our winter concert was the highlight of December. Students in all grades celebrated the season by sharing Christmas songs with our community. Thank you to Mr. Wong and Ms. Woo who put on a wonderful concert!
Yoga in the library at lunch has been a popular stop for many of our students.
Some of our Fleetwood band students played some Christmas carols as we dismissed for the winter break.
We hope all our families had a wonderful winter break. Happy 2020!
