The last two months of school are aways filled with a multitude of events. This year, was no different. Enjoy some moments from May and June.
Grade three trip to the Fort!
Students in some of our modular classes enjoyed a wonderful multicultural lunch. Students tried some wonderful new foods that they had never had before, along with some old favourites!
Lots of changes in our library recently. The weeding of the collection was a gift to many of our students who took books home to share with their families. We also had some students’ help in putting together some new furniture.
A group of intermediate students have been a part of a cooking club with Mrs. Edwards. The chocolate fondue was a great way to enjoy the fruit.
Students have been tackling the new(ish) Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (A.D.S.T) curriculum a great deal this year. Students in grade 6 worked in small groups to design and build a mini-golf course. Students from many of our classes were able to try out the course. I had a crack it as well. What fun!
Each year, Coyote Creek creates an art show and gallery for all to enjoy. This year’s theme was texture. If you did not have the opportunity to see it in person, here is a selection of their beautiful work.
It’s so nice to see our students working and creating outside on nice days.
Speech Fest was a wonderful opportunity for students to share their public speaking abilities. Students prepared speeches on a variety of topics in class and held classroom and grade group competitions. The top three students in each grade group moved on to the Speech Fest competition. We had guest judges attend, including a special visit from Mr. Linklater!
Coyote Creek students represented us well at the District Track Meet. Congratulations to all our participants!
Our grade 7 students had the opportunity to spend 3 days at Timberline Ranch. Students had fun horseback riding, and participating in a variety of activities and challenges.
The weather was most certainly questionable for Sport’s Day. We decided to give it a go, and managed to get through most of our events and bring back the bike parade before the skies opened!
The intermediate cooking club prepared a 4-course meal for a few lucky recipients. We enjoyed salad, soup and buns, spaghetti, and a baked dessert all made from scratch! Students also learned food safe and serving skills. Future MasterChef Canada competitors they may be!
The Coyote Creek P.A.C. put on a wonderful community fun night. It was great to see so many families and staff at the event. Here are a few moments from the evening.
The P.A.C. has been putting on events like this both for our students to enjoy, and to raise funds to replace the big playground which is at, “end of life.” We have numerous key P.A.C. executives whose children are moving to high school and will be retiring from P.A.C. We are in need of new individuals to fill these spots. Stay tuned for our first P.A.C. meeting of the year in September! Thank you to all the hard working P.A.C. members who make events like this possible!
Ms.Wahlla and Ms. Espinosa, our Integration teachers, made a wonderful breakfast for our Education Assistants and students to enjoy!
Each year in June, we invite parents to join us in the morning before school for coffee and treats to show our appreciation for all your help and support. Thank you for driving on field trips, volunteering in classrooms and supporting your learners at home! It takes a village!
Our grade 7 leaving ceremony was an opportunity for us to honour all of our student leaders. We are so very proud of their accomplishments and wish them the best at high school!
Once the ceremony was over, student had fun at their neon themed party!
Our grade three students wrapped up their year with a day at Crescent Beach.
While rain prevented the Kindergarten picnic from being at the park, all still had fun at their indoor event.
Construction has already begun on a 100 student addition to Coyote Creek. For detailed information, see the link below. Construction is scheduled to be completed over the next year, with the hope that we see students in classes by September 2020.
What a wonderful first year this has been! I want to thank all of our wonderful parents, staff and students for creating such a warm, welcoming place for learning. Have a fun-filled and safe summer. See you all in September!
